Lunar Legacy Invitational Applications are Now Open!
Teams can now apply to compete at the Lunar Legacy Invitational at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ July 19-20, 2019.

The three events are FIRST Lego League (Into Orbit), FIRST Tech Challenge (Rover Ruckus) and NASA's Apollo Next Giant Leap Student Challenge "ANGLeS."

Cost will be $250 per team. NAU will handle registration and payment with teams once they are accepted.

Applications will be open for at least 3 weeks. Once applications close, teams will be notified of their acceptance status to the Invitational. Acceptance will be based on the quality of applications received and the capacity for each program, which is projected to be around 36 teams each.

Teams will get to compete in their chosen program over the course of the two days, as well as attend presentations and professional development opportunities. Teams will also get to tour historic sites in Flagstaff that contributed to the Apollo Moon Missions, including Lowell Observatory and the Cinder Fields where the Apollo astronauts were trained.

For more information and to apply to the Invitational, please visit the event web page.
Applications will be open until May 15 so don't wait! Apply today!

Two Events in New Mexico
On Saturday, May 4, FTC Team Enigma (16265), one of our rookie jump start teams, is hosting  an FTC Orientation and Recruiting Event at Nex+Gen Academy in Albuquerque from 9 AM to 11 AM.  Doors open at 8:30 AM.  It would be great if some teams could bring their Rover Ruckus robots to this event.  A huge thanks to Enigma for setting this up and to Nex+Gen Academy and Griffin Robotics for the use of their school! A flyer is attached with all the needed info.

On Sunday May 5, FRC Team Zia Robotics (6974) and The Brain Hackers Association have organized a FIRST Robotics Day at the Natural History Museum in Albuquerque from 11 AM to 3 PM.  We plan to have 2-4 FRC teams and their robots present and a number of FTC teams.  We are also working on getting FLL represented at the event.

Please contact Jim Jackson directly if you are interested in attending either of these events.

Summer Opportunities & Jump Start

We hope everyone enjoyed Rover Ruckus as much as we did! Thank you all for your energy, time, dedication to FIRST and your communities! We have many more opportunities for fun and robots coming up this summer. Please read below for more information and check the list under Quick Links for other events.

LUNAR LEGACY INVITATIONAL
The Lunar Legacy Invitational will take place July 19-20, 2019 at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, exactly 50 years to the day after the Apollo 11 Moon Landing! The Invitational will feature three robotics programs simultaneously: FIRST Lego League's "Into Orbit," FIRST Tech Challenge's "Rover Ruckus," and the NASA's Apollo Next Giant Leap Student Challenge "ANGLeS."

We're working on pricing and registration for the event, and expect to have that active in the next week or so.

To participate in ANGLeS, organizations must register by Friday. The top team from the Arizona event receives a trip to the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston! The ANGLeS Challenge is an amazing opportunity for schools who don't have a robotics team yet to get involved - many of you may have schools in your area that have thought about it but are hesitant to jump in...this is a great chance!

Please visit the AZ HUB WEBSITE to register a team and the ANGLeS website for more information. You can also CONTACT SEAN RYAN at NAU if you have questions. Links to the website, a brochure and letter you can print and distribute are available on the links list to the right.

CAL GAMES 2019
San Diego FIRST Tech Challenge is once again extending an invitation to Arizona & New Mexico teams to compete in the CalGames in San Diego. The Games includes another chance to compete with your Rover Ruckus robot, please additional challenges!

The CalGames are July 12-14, 2019. Check out their website here to apply.

FIRST Tech Challenge & FIRST Lego League Jump Start
Jump Start grants are available for rookie FIRST Lego League & FIRST Tech Challenge teams until Friday, April 15! Teams can register now, get their robot kit 4 months prior to kickoff, and get their team registration fee waived for next year. If you have another school in your area interested in getting involved in FIRST, now's a great opportunity! Check out the FLL Jump Start and FTC Jump Start pages for more information.
